Daytime or SunSET Session?
How do you decide?
When you are outdoors, what time of day makes your heart happy? Is it when the day is just starting? Is it when you are enjoying the daylight hours? Or, do you sit there in awe at all the colours of the sunset? It's one idea to select your session time based on your personal favourite time of the day.
You can also look at the time of year and your family make-up. If you have young children, the warmer months are probably not going to be ideal for a sunset session, given the sun sets so late in the day, however, in the cooler months, sunset is at a more reasonable hour. You could have your shoot and be done by dinner time!
Alternatively, you can look at images from an artistic point of view. Sunset images look entirely different to those captured in the morning light. I'll pop a bunch of images side by side for you to see the difference in colours for yourself. Which are you more drawn to?
Personally, I am partial to a sunset session. I love the warmth, the glow of the beautifully backlit portraits. The sunlight is softer and often that means facial expressions are too.
