Life has changed...
There was once a time, before motherhood. Where I got a full 8+ hours sleep a night, mostly uninterrupted because I did have pets... Where I could pick up my keys and leave the house whenever I wanted. Where I worked a full time job and got to see my friends every day. Can you relate? Life has changed.
Motherhood can be isolating. It's the hardest responsibility to be placed upon a human being - and sure, it certainly does come with its many rewards. We are, however, tasked with raising these little beings into kind, compassionate, generous, creative and knowledgeable adults. As mothers, we often put our needs aside to care for and pour our everything into our children.
I see all you mammas. I see you taking your children to the park. I see you with kids in tow as you're running errands. I see you holding them while they have a melt down. I see you helping them with their homework while also cooking dinner. I see you driving them to their extra curricular activities, I see you waiting up at night while your children are out with their friends. I see the tears you shed as they leave home. I see that sometimes you miss the life you had before you had children... and not because we don't love our kids with every inch of our being but because somewhere along the way we lost our old selves in the experience of motherhood. Along the way, we noticed that and we have had to relearn who we are as women. I see you. Life has changed.
But, having said all that, there was once a time before motherhood where all I (and many of us) wished for was to become a mother. So, yes... life has changed. I have a new identity, and, it's truly the most beautiful thing ever. In all of its crazy chaos, life has changed... but it's all I ever wanted.
