Where else is more special than your home?
I don't think we often consider the setting for our professional photos when we're deciding which photographer we'd like to hire for our family photos. First and foremost, when we are looking for a photographer, I feel we look for photos that we are drawn to. But why are we not considering both?
Professional photography taken in your home really speaks to the heart. Not only are you surrounded by everything that is special and unique to you, but you have everything at hand without having to worry about forgetting to bring something along to your session and where else in the world can you be more comfortable and at-ease than in your own home. You can get some amazing photography results in your own home environment. Just take a look at this particular example. You can see and feel the love and the connection, regardless of where the session was held.
This gorgeous little family welcomed me into their home to capture this, gorgeous little boy. He had some fun playing indoors before we headed out into their backyard to enjoy some light-filled, loved-up backyard images.
I often take photos in my own yard - in fact, my feature photo of my family is taken in my own backyard - and my yard is nothing to boast about! My parents, on the other hand, have a gorgeous, well-established backyard full of greenery and it makes for a beautiful backdrop in the family photos I take whilst we are visiting. They are the photos I keep looking back over - they're the every day special moments that make up a majority of our lives together.
Even if you think your home or yard is nothing special, I'll be sure to find some pockets of pretty that we can work with. More importantly, I feel you will look your best... after all, everyone is most comfortable and at-ease at home.
