What’s the Vibe?
My approach to in-home newborn photography is relaxed and has a very candid-feel. I work with natural light, capturing the love and connection in a way that feels documentary-style, not staged. I will direct you, over posing you, which means you won't feel uncomfortably and unnaturally positioned. Think soft, intimate moments; your baby snuggled in your arms, your partner gazing at you in admiration, the way your toddler dotes on their new sibling, or the family pet curiously sniffing this new little bundle.
Getting Ready for Your Session
There’s no need to stress about cleaning every corner of your home before I arrive. You’re welcome to tidy up the spaces you want featured in your photos, but if there’s clutter in the background, that’s okay too—it’s part of your story. Keep in mind that natural light is key, so we’ll avoid turning on house lights. Make sure the space is warm and cosy to keep your baby comfortable, and feel free to prepare a few special items—like wraps, outfits, or heirlooms—you’d love to include.
As for outfits, I recommend sticking to a coordinating colour palette. Jeans give off a casual, fun vibe, while flowing dresses add a dreamy, elevated touch. Keeping It Calm and Comfortable
Fussy baby? No problem. Your little one stays in your arms for the session, so there’s no need to worry about moving them around. As a mum of four, I can help resettle your baby if needed or give you a moment to yourself.
Capturing the Details
With two hours set aside for your session, there’s plenty of time to capture those tiny newborn details - from their button nose and itty-bitty fingers down to their tiny toes, while also getting a variety of family portraits. The goal is to document your family as you are, with love and connection at the heart of every image.
